This image is of Mathew Diebold (far right) and other workers at a stone quarry on Madison's west side. He was supposedly the foreman of the quarry and stone from the quarry made up part of the Capitol, as well as Mathew's house on Breese Terrace and other buildings around Madison. They were known for their special type of stone cut, called "Ashlar" cut. | |
